Here in South Australia, we are currently experiencing the season of Autumn. 🍁Autumn (or fall for those who are reading from America), is a season defined where the hemisphere you are living on is tilting away from the sun, resulting in shorter daylight hours, cooler temperatures, and more rain. 🌧
In a temperate climate, autumn lies in between summer and winter, and is a transition from hot weather to cold weather, with significant shifts in weather patterns and temperatures. Only the lower parts of Australia, which are South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania and the city of Perth in Western Australia have the four seasons. ☀️🍁🌧🌹
Because there is a new temperature and a new weather condition each day, the temperatures and overall conditions can fluctuate wildly in Australia’s autumn.🌡 For example, one day may be a cool 18C (64.4F) and then the next may be a hot 30C (86F). We also can have sunny weather one day, then rainy weather the next day. 🌦
Daylight savings
Daylight savings is when the daytime is longer in summer than in winter. In April, daylight savings ends, and we start to see the level of daylight decrease until we see our daylight eventually reduced to the hours of 6am – 5pm. This is when we also see the UV levels decrease, as the hemisphere that South Australia is on tilts backwards, we see UV levels gradually fall from extreme in summer to low by winter. ☀️
How does Autumn affect me?
Autumn doesn’t seem to have much effect on me, aside from the leaves of deciduous trees like maples turning the eventual colour of red, which makes me happy due to red being my favourite colour. Easter also makes me happy as we get to have lots of chocolate. Hayfever and asthma are usually the most the season does to affect me negatively. 🍁
Autumn and the Weather
During Autumn, the weather starts to change in South Australia. March is usually hot and dry, and we can get some of out hottest days in March, as South Australia can reach up to 47C (116.6F) at times. During April, things get cooler, and are usually around 15C (59F) by the middle of April, and by the time of May, are usually around 13C (55.4F). The month of May sees a lot of rain showers and wind. ☔️
Farming and Plowing
Autumn is a time for harvesting (farming) certain crops. These include wheat and grain.🌾 Grapes, pomegranates, strawberries, pears and pumpkins are also included when harvesting. A farmer must use a tractor when harvesting these crops, as using the traditional horse method is too long and inefficient. 🐎 A tractor usually runs on diesel, and can also be used to plow the land, which is done by a separate attachment. These attachments used to plow/or harvest the land are attached to the back of the tractor. 🚜
Farming – Stage 2
Once harvested, these crops are stored in a silo or barn, and are then sent to a factory to be processed. 🏭 Wheat and barley are also sent to bakeries where they are refined into breads and pastries. 🍞🥯🧁 The baking of bread, pastries and cakes is done in the early hours of the morning. 🌄
How was this tree created?
This tree below was created in a software known as Blender (version 3.0), and the tree is known as a Japanese Maple. This was generated using the Sapling: Add Tree script. This is not an animated GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) file. 🌳
Princess Lilli Lilac
Although Princess Lilli Lilac has nothing to do with autumn (aside from her body temperature and fluff), she is a sweet, angelic natured cat who helps to keep me calm. We have been inseperable from day one, and we share a close bond between owner and pet cat. 💜
